ZOEI
ZOEI demonstrates the versatility of brick when it is considered as part of the architecture rather than simply a wall finish.
Designed by Emma Butterworth Architects, with interiors by Comma Projects, the Palm Beach residence uses a restrained palette of clay, timber and stone. LOHAS Nilo Rustic and Nilo Smooth are carried throughout the project — across exterior and interior walls, flooring, thresholds, the kitchen and integrated architectural elements.
The result is a home where one material connects spaces, functions and experiences from outside to in.

Nilo Rustic + Nilo Smooth
Rather than introducing a new finish for every application, ZOEI repeatedly returns to brick.
Externally, Nilo gives the residence a grounded, tactile base against darker timber elements. Inside, the same clay language continues across walls and circulation spaces, creating a natural connection between exterior and interior.
Used underfoot, the linear brick format brings rhythm to floors and thresholds while helping define transitions without physically enclosing spaces.
In the kitchen and living areas, brick becomes part of the interior architecture — adding texture to walls and forming integrated elements such as the fireplace and built-in seating.
The combination of Nilo Rustic and Nilo Smooth allows the project to maintain one consistent colour palette while introducing subtle variation through texture.
Nilo Rustic brings greater surface character and depth, responding strongly to changing natural light.
Nilo Smooth offers a quieter, more refined expression of the same warm Nilo tone.
Together, the two finishes create variation without disrupting the material continuity of the home.

Achieving this level of continuity requires more than selecting a brick.
Wall build-ups, floor levels, substrates and junctions were carefully resolved so the material could transition cleanly between different applications.
The result feels simple because the detailing behind it has been carefully considered.

At ZOEI, brick establishes the façade, moves indoors, defines circulation, creates flooring and thresholds, and becomes part of the home's built-in architecture.
Despite its extensive use, it never overwhelms the space.
Instead, Nilo Rustic and Nilo Smooth provide a warm, enduring foundation that connects the entire project.
More than a finish

Nilo Smooth retains the same soft, sand-toned colour with a more refined surface.
Its quieter texture allows the material to adapt naturally to areas where a cleaner expression is required while remaining visually connected to the Rustic finish.
Used together, the two finishes create variation without introducing another colour or competing material.
Nilo Rustic introduces texture, subtle irregularity and greater surface depth.
Its tactile finish responds strongly to natural light, helping bring warmth and character to larger expanses of brickwork while maintaining the project's muted architectural palette.
